About the Publisher

One Book Publishing was founded in 2024 for a single purpose: to publish Alexei Navalny’s autobiography Patriot. It was important to us that readers could hear Alexei’s voice in his native language.

A year later, we realized we didn’t want to stop there. We will publish other books that cannot be printed in Putin’s Russia — both works written in Russian and translations. Books that are banned, removed from shelves, silenced by censorship, yet must be read.

We believe that Russian-speaking readers should continue to have access to the most essential works of our time — books that help us think, feel, and resist. Books that give a voice to those who are being silenced.

In Russia today, books are being banned with alarming frequency. Sometimes — because of the author’s name on the cover. Sometimes — because of a few lines inside. Because these books, in the eyes of the authorities, are too free, and freedom is what the Putin regime fears most.

That’s why it matters so deeply to me that these books continue to exist in the Russian language — so those who grew up within Russian culture can still have the chance to read the thoughts and stories that help us understand one another, feel, and remain human.
